ABOUT & INFO

The Scooter’s Speed Club has been active in roller & inline speed skating since 1997. The club is recognized by Roller Sports Canada, which is recognized by the Canadian Olympic Committee and FIRS.

WHAT IS THE CLUB ABOUT?

Scooter’s Indoor Speed Club is a roller & inline speed skating club. The club’s mandate includes teaching how to roller and inline speed skate properly, improving fitness, racing & tactics, and providing a safe and fun atmosphere for inline skating.

The sport of roller & inline speed skating is similar to short track speed skating. Athletes skate and race on a 100-meter track with symmetrical corners. Outdoor roller & inline speed skating is tactically similar to bicycle racing where athletes skate in larger groups (packs/ peletons) on longer tracks like 400-meter running tracks and open-road courses that can include hills (up & down), turns (left & right) and can be on a closed loop or point-to-point.

Hello Jeremy- there are currently no beginner lessons for the Speed Club. However, the Scooter’s Roller Rink offers beginner lessons.

If there is enough demand and inquiries, there’s the possibility of running a 11:30am program on Sunday mornings.

The 2009 information will come out later- times, dates, fees, and more.

    Hello,

Can you advise of any indoor locations for inline skating in Toronto? I do not have a car so I need it to be accessible by public transit.
I am looking for something that is preferably open 24hrs a day/7 days a week, but will accept any opportunity available.

Hey there- as far as I know, there’s the Scooter’s Roller Palace in Mississauga, and there’s also a roller rink in Whitby- I believe it’s called Starlight. I may be wrong. You can go to http://www.rollersports.ca and check out the links section.

Hi there, I’m looking to start inline skating this summer, but I’m not sure about purchasing skates… I used to speed skate, but this seems very different.

I was looking on the bont website, b/c that’s the only company I really know… I wanted to buy skates that are good, so they’ll last me if I want to continue doing this past this summer, but I don’t really know what to look for, or what size I would be.

Things like wheel size, 2- or 3 point, and anything else, I’m not sure about, and would love to hear your thoughts.

I was looking at the cheetah ones, but let’s be honest, I have no idea.

    Thanks, Jess

    Hi,
I just noticed on the front page it mentions final practices – does that mean there are no more speed skate lessons this year?
I’m coming to Toronto in a couple of weeks and I really wanted to come to a few lessons!
